30 minute timer
Half an hour is the standard slot for meetings, a common length for a workout, and a solid block of study. It is also long enough to lose track of.
The short answer
Thirty minutes is the usual slot for a meeting, a common length for a study session, and, five days a week, the 150 minutes of moderate activity the World Health Organization recommends for adults each week. Press Start and the frame turns amber at six minutes left, the cue to wrap up.
Three steps to a timer on the wall
Step 1: Choose a time
Pick a preset or set your own. The timer remembers what you used last on this device.
Step 2: Press start
Start the timer, then press F or the fullscreen button to fill the screen.
Step 3: Run the room
Space pauses, the up arrow adds a minute, R resets. Fullscreen shows the timer alone, with no ads and no navigation.
Four things worth knowing
End meetings at amber
On a half-hour countdown the frame turns amber at six minutes left. Use it to move to decisions and next steps, so the meeting ends on time rather than at the next one's start.
Study with the tab in the background
Keep your notes in front and the timer in another tab. The tab title shows the time left, and the alarm is set on the audio clock so it rings on time.
A workout on the TV
Cast the tab or open it on a smart TV browser and press F. The digits fill the screen and can be read from across the room.
Save the times you reuse
If every session is thirty minutes, press "Save this time" once and it stays under My times on that device.
No ads on your big screen
Ads pay for this page, and they stay on this page. The moment the timer goes fullscreen there is nothing on screen but the time — no banners, no navigation, no surprises in front of a room.
- Fullscreen shows the timer alone
- Ad sounds can never clash with the alarm
- Saved times stay on your device — no account
- Works with an ad blocker, and offline once loaded
Questions people ask
Anything we've missed?
How much exercise do adults need each week?
The World Health Organization recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week for adults, which is thirty minutes on five days.
How long is a Pomodoro?
Twenty-five minutes of work followed by a five-minute break. The 25 min preset here sets one, and the Pomodoro timer runs a whole set of four with the breaks and the long break.
Will my screen stay on for half an hour?
The page asks the browser to keep the screen awake while the timer runs. Most current browsers honour it; if yours does not, raise the sleep time in your settings.
Can I pause and carry on later?
Yes. Press Space or Pause, and press again to carry on from where it stopped.
