1 hour timer

An hour is long enough to forget a timer is running at all. That is the point of it, as long as the alarm is loud enough to find you.

FreeFullscreen, no ads

The short answer

A one-hour timer suits a practice exam, a deep-work block, or anything in the oven long enough to forget. Press Start and the countdown shows hours, minutes and seconds, turning amber at twelve minutes left. Choose "Loud bell, until stopped" if you will be out of the room: it rings until you tap or press a key, for up to two minutes.

How to use it

Three steps to a timer on the wall

  1. Step 1: Choose a time

Pick a preset or set your own. The timer remembers what you used last on this device.

  2. Step 2: Press start

Start the timer, then press F or the fullscreen button to fill the screen.

  3. Step 3: Run the room

Space pauses, the up arrow adds a minute, R resets. Fullscreen shows the timer alone, with no ads and no navigation.

Running it well

Four things worth knowing

  • Make the alarm find you

An hour is long enough to wander off. "Loud bell, until stopped" keeps ringing every three seconds until you come back and press a key, for up to two minutes.

  • It will not drift over an hour

Many web timers fall behind in a background tab because browsers slow them down. This one reads the clock, and the alarm is scheduled on the audio clock at the start, so an hour is an hour.

  • For a mock exam, show the finish time

The exam clock shows when the paper started and when it ends, and can add a reading period, which is closer to the real thing.

  • Check the sound before you leave

Press "Play the alarm now" and turn the volume up until you can hear it from where you will be. Checking takes five seconds; missing the alarm costs the hour.

In the room

Built to be read from the back row

A timer that only works on the person running it is not doing the job. The digits scale to the screen, the colour changes before the end, and fullscreen shows nothing else at all.

No ads on your big screen

Ads pay for this page, and they stay on this page. The moment the timer goes fullscreen there is nothing on screen but the time — no banners, no navigation, no surprises in front of a room.

  • Fullscreen shows the timer alone
  • Ad sounds can never clash with the alarm
  • Saved times stay on your device — no account
  • Works with an ad blocker, and offline once loaded
FAQ

Questions people ask

Anything we've missed?

Will the alarm go off if my laptop screen turns off?

The page asks the browser to keep the screen on while the timer runs. If the computer goes to sleep anyway, the time left is still correct when it wakes, but the sound cannot play while it sleeps.

Can I set more than an hour?

Yes. Tap 90 min or 2 hours, or type any number of minutes up to 600, which is ten hours.

Will it ring on time in a background tab?

Yes. The alarm is scheduled on the audio clock when you press Start, and browsers do not slow that down the way they slow page timers.

How long is a sleep cycle?

About 90 minutes on average, though it varies from person to person and through the night. The 90 min preset sets one.
