Privacy policy

GST Calculator is a calculation tool. It does not have an account system, a server, or a backend of any kind. Your calculations never leave your phone. The only external data flow is the advertising signal described below, and that disappears entirely if you buy Pro.

Not a government app

GST Calculator is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing the Government of India, the GST Council, or the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). It does not provide or facilitate any government service, and it does not file returns on your behalf.

GST rates are set by the GST Council and notified by CBIC. The rates shown in this app are reproduced from those official notifications for your convenience. You can check any rate against the original source:

What we collect

Nothing you type. Every amount, rate, and result stays on your device. It is stored in the app’s private local storage and is not transmitted to us or to anyone else. We never see it.

Technical information for advertising. The free version shows a single banner ad supplied by Google AdMob. To serve it, Google collects directly from your device:

• Your device’s advertising ID — a resettable identifier Android and iOS assign for advertising purposes
• Your IP address, used to infer an approximate location (typically city level)
• Technical details — device model, operating system version, app version, language, network type
• Ad interaction records — which ads were shown, for how long, whether you tapped, and when

Google receives this data as an independent controller and handles it under its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You can review and adjust your ad settings at adssettings.google.com.

What we do not collect

• Your calculations, amounts, or results — these never leave your phone
• Your name, email address, or any contact information — there is no account
• Your precise location — the app does not request or use GPS
• Your contacts, camera, microphone, or any other device permission
• Crash reports or analytics of our own — we run none

We do not sell data. Google is the only third party that receives anything, and only for the advertising purpose set out above.

HSN and rate data

The HSN/SAC rate table is bundled with the app and updated with app releases. It does not call a server at runtime. No query you make to the rate lookup is transmitted anywhere.

The rates in that table come from the official CBIC notifications listed under “Not a government app” above. The app shows the date its rates took effect, and links to the official source in Settings, so you can always verify a figure yourself. We publish these rates for convenience only — CBIC is the authority, not us.

Ads and how to limit them

Non-personalised by default. On first launch the app requests non-personalised ads. Non-personalised ads still involve the technical signals above (device type, IP, app context) for fraud prevention and basic targeting, but do not use your advertising ID to build a profile across apps.

To opt out further:

• Android — Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID. This stops personalised advertising in every app on your phone.
• iOS — Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → turn off “Allow Apps to Request to Track.”
• Google — adssettings.google.com lets you see and edit Google’s record of your interests.

Pro removes ads entirely. If you purchase Pro, the app makes no ad request and none of the advertising data above is collected. The purchase is processed by the App Store or Google Play under their own terms; we receive only a confirmation that the purchase was made.

Calculation history

Your saved calculations are stored locally on your phone. The free version keeps your last 25. Pro keeps an unlimited history with CSV export. To clear your history at any time, go to Settings → Clear history. Uninstalling the app removes everything.

Children

GST Calculator is a professional and business tool. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly involve them. Our ad requests are not tagged as child-directed.

Security

Your data never leaves your device, so there is no server to breach. The app uses the operating system’s own secure local storage. No system is perfect, but the attack surface here is your phone, not ours.

Your rights

Because everything the app stores stays on your device, you already have full control: you can view it, export it (Pro), or delete it from inside the app at any time, without contacting us.

If you are in India, we handle any personal data in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal basis for the advertising data is legitimate interest in fraud prevention and non-personalised ad delivery. Write to us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If anything here changes, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. A material change — one that affects what data is collected or how it is used — will be noted in the app’s release notes.
