What this chart shows क्या

Karka lagna, ruled by Moon. The tradition reads a Moon-ruled lagna as giving emotional steadiness, care and a well-liked nature, and as asking care with mood swings, worry and restless sleep.

Janma nakshatra Uttara Ashadha. The elephant's tusk, and the Vishvadevas, the universal gods. Read as lasting victory rather than quick success — integrity, patience, and wins that hold because of how they were arrived at.

Sun in the 11th bhava — labha (gains, friends)

Labha bhava is an upachaya and Surya does well here. Read as gains that come through position and through people of influence, a wide circle entered by merit rather than by warmth, and elder siblings who matter.

Moon in the 6th bhava — ripu (work, illness, rivals)

Ari bhava puts the mind in contact with service and with the body's ordinary difficulties. Read as sensitivity to routine and to health — a nervous system that registers strain early, which is inconvenient and also a genuinely useful early signal.

The texts treat this bhava as tender ground; read it as a signification, not a forecast.

Mercury in the 10th bhava — karma (career)

Karma bhava puts Budha to work in public. Read as a career made of communication: teaching, trade, writing, analysis — work where the deliverable is something explained, and a reputation for being quick.

Venus in the 9th bhava — dharma (fortune, teachers)

Dharma bhava is fortune and belief. Read as good fortune with a graceful quality to it, love of travel and of foreign refinement, and a philosophy that makes room for pleasure instead of apologising for it.

Mars in the 8th bhava — ayu (change, the hidden)

Randhra bhava governs longevity and upheaval, and Mangala here is another Manglik position. Read as intensity around what is hidden and shared: sudden change, surgery or accident in the classical significations, and a life that has been genuinely remade at least once.

The texts treat this bhava as tender ground; read it as a signification, not a forecast.

Jupiter in the 12th bhava — vyaya (loss, release)

Vyaya bhava is release, retreat and moksha. Read as generosity given without return, an inclination to the contemplative or the charitable, and expenditure on things that cannot be counted — which the tradition treats as a good use of this house rather than a loss.

The texts treat this bhava as tender ground; read it as a signification, not a forecast.

Saturn in the 7th bhava — kalatra (partner)

Kalatra bhava is partnership, and Shani here is read as marriage that comes later and lasts longer. A partner who is read as serious, older, or steadying; commitment treated as an obligation in the honourable sense of the word.

Rahu in the 7th bhava — kalatra (partner)

Kalatra bhava is partnership. Read as attraction to what is foreign or unconventional — a partner from outside the expected circle — and desire in marriage that is powerful and not always easy to satisfy.

Ketu in the 1st bhava — tanu (self)

Ketu on the lagna is read as detachment from the self. A person somewhat apart from their own identity — indifferent to how they are seen, carrying an inherited skill they did not have to learn, and difficult to place.

Today for this chart: the Moon in your 6th bhava

The Moon is in your sixth bhava — service, routine, and the body's ordinary demands. The classical texts call this a working placement rather than a comfortable one: attention goes to what needs doing, and small strains register more than they would on another day. Nothing here is a diagnosis; it is a description of where attention sits.

When it applies कब

Rahu mahadasha, Dec 2011 to Dec 2029. A period the tradition reads for ambition, originality and gains from the unusual; its lessons come through confusion, illusion and restless craving.

Sun antardasha until 22 May 2027. Within that, Sun colours the months with confidence, authority and the respect of elders, and with ego clashes, pride and friction with those in charge.

Next: Jupiter mahadasha from Dec 2029, for 16 years.

Transits now: Saturn in Meena, your 9th bhava — brings weight, delay, and the requirement to actually earn it. Jupiter in Karka, your 1st — brings room, permission and the sense that it will be all right.

What to do क्या करें

The tradition's answer to a hard period is to strengthen its lord — on its own day, with its mantra, and by giving what it governs — but only when that graha is weak or afflicted. A strong graha needs nothing. Checked for the grahas that matter most in this chart:

  • Rahu — mahadasha lord · Saturday

Neither weak nor strong — in the 7th bhava, a kendra or trikona. No remedy is called for; if you want a practice for its day: Chant "Om Rahave Namah" and worship Durga.

  • Sun — antardasha lord · Sunday

Neither weak nor strong — in Vrishabha, neither exalted nor debilitated. No remedy is called for; if you want a practice for its day: Offer water to the rising Surya and chant the Aditya Hridayam on Sundays.

  • Moon — lagna lord · Monday

Weak or afflicted (in the 6th bhava, a dusthana)

Vedic: Chant "Om Som Somaya Namah" on Mondays and fast if you can.

Lal Kitab: Take your mother's blessing, and keep a silver glass for drinking water.

Readings follow Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and Saravali (B. Suryanarain Rao's translations) and describe what the tradition reads — they promise nothing. Upay are the traditional practices the Jyotish app lists: free, at home, nothing to buy — and given only for a weak or afflicted graha, never a strong one. Not medical, financial or legal advice.

The short answer

To make a kundli you need a birth date, a birth time and a birth place. The tool converts the time to UTC using the place's time zone, computes the sidereal positions of the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu with the Lahiri ayanamsa, finds the lagna (the sign rising in the east at that moment) from the place's latitude and longitude, and lays the twelve whole-sign houses out from it. It then shows each graha's rashi, degree, nakshatra and pada, the navamsa (D9) chart, and the Vimshottari mahadasha and antardasha running now. Everything is computed in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

How to

Four steps to your kundli

  1. Step 1: Enter the birth date and time

Use the time on the birth certificate or as the family remembers it, in the local clock of the place. Tick 'time unknown' if nobody knows — the chart still shows every rashi and nakshatra.

  2. Step 2: Choose the birth place

Pick a city from the list or enter latitude and longitude. The time zone, and any daylight saving in force that day, comes from the place.

  3. Step 3: Read the chart

The lagna is house 1. Each house shows its rashi number and the grahas in it; tap a graha for its exact degree, nakshatra, pada and whether it was retrograde.

  4. Step 4: Read what, when and what to do

Under the tables: what each graha in its bhava shows, the dasha and transits running now with their dates, and the upay the tradition gives for the grahas that matter most.

Getting it right

Worth knowing before you read it

  • Five minutes moves the lagna a degree

The ascendant moves through a whole sign in about two hours, so a rounded time is usually fine for the lagna sign but not for the navamsa lagna, which changes every thirteen minutes or so. Treat the D9 lagna as uncertain unless the time is exact.

  • Time zone is the common mistake

Births outside India before 1945, or anywhere daylight saving applies, need the offset that was in force that day, not today's. The place list handles this; if you enter coordinates by hand, check the zone.

  • Rashi is the Moon, lagna is the rising sign

When someone asks your rashi in India they usually mean the sign the Moon was in. Your lagna is a different thing — the sign on the eastern horizon — and both are shown at the top of the result.

  • Whole-sign houses

Each house is one whole rashi counted from the lagna, which is the classical Parashari method and the one most Indian software uses. Bhava chalit and other systems can move a graha near a boundary into the next house.

Computed, not looked up — in your browser

Positions come from published astronomy (Meeus and the JPL orbital elements), the ayanamsa is Lahiri, the houses whole-sign, and the same code runs in the Jyotish app. Your birth details and location are used by your own browser and never sent, and no language model reads or writes your chart. Switch the page to another language and only its fixed text goes to our translation service; your result stays in English, in your browser.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Anything we've missed?

What is a kundli?

A kundli, or janam kundali, is the Vedic birth chart: a map of where the nine grahas — Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu — stood in the twelve rashis at the moment and place of birth, read from the lagna, the sign rising in the east. Everything in Jyotish, from the dasha timeline to compatibility matching, is read from it.

Can I make a kundli without my birth time?

Partly. Without a time the tool still gives every graha's rashi and nakshatra, which is enough for your Moon sign and its nakshatra, the day's panchang and most compatibility matching. It cannot give the lagna, the houses, the nakshatra pada or the dasha dates, and it says so rather than guessing a time.

Which ayanamsa is used?

Lahiri (Chitrapaksha), the one the Indian government's Rashtriya Panchang and most Indian software use. It is about 24.2° in 2026. The value used for your chart is printed under it, so a chart from other software can be compared.

Why does my sign here differ from my Western horoscope sign?

Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which starts at the March equinox; Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, tied to the stars. The two have drifted about 24° apart, so a Sun near the start of a Western sign is usually in the previous rashi. The birth chart tool shows both side by side.

Can a kundli predict marriage, career or wealth?

A kundli is the map; the prediction is how a tradition reads it. Jyotish reads wealth from the second and eleventh houses, career from the tenth and marriage from the seventh. This page shows which grahas sit in each house, what the tradition says each graha shows there, and the dasha running now with its dates. Read it as the tradition's view, not as a promise of what will happen.

What are the three boxes under the result?

Every reading here answers the same three questions the tradition answers: what the placement shows (क्या), when it applies (कब) — the dasha, the transit, the window of the day — and what to do about it (क्या करें). The words are the app's own, from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and Saravali, and they describe rather than promise.

What are the upay (remedies) shown, and do they cost anything?

Under every result, 'What to do' checks the grahas that matter most in it — exalted or debilitated, own sign, combust, the house it sits in — and gives the classical practice only for a graha that is weak or afflicted: a mantra, its weekday, a fast or a charity, with the Lal Kitab everyday version, word for word from the Jyotish app's graha guide. A strong graha is named as strong and left alone, because the tradition gives no remedy for it. All practices are free and done at home. Nothing is sold, no gemstone or puja is recommended, and none of it is medical, financial or legal advice.

Is my birth data sent anywhere?

No. The date, time and place you enter are used by your own browser to compute the chart — load the page, switch off Wi-Fi, and it still works. If you switch the page to another language, only the page's fixed text is sent to our translation service; your chart, your birth details and the chat stay in English and are never sent. The details are kept in this browser so the page remembers them next time; clear them with the Reset button.

How accurate are the positions?

The Sun is computed from the Meeus low-precision series (about 0.01°), the Moon from the 27 largest terms of the ELP series (a few arcminutes), and the planets from the JPL Keplerian elements published for 1800–2050 (about an arcminute). All of that is far tighter than a birth time rounded to the nearest five minutes, which moves the ascendant by more than a degree. Rahu is the mean node. The ayanamsa is Lahiri, modelled linearly from its J2000 value, accurate to about 0.01° in the current era.

Does this give the same result as the Jyotish app?

Yes. The website's engine is a line-for-line port of the app's, and the build fails if the two disagree on any of five reference charts to a millionth of a degree. The app adds what a page cannot: questions in your own words in eight languages, Kundli Milan, Lal Kitab and numerology.
