The short answer

To make kitty party chits, write one chit per line (names, tasks or questions) and print them with cut lines, 8, 12 or 24 to an A4 or Letter page. Cut, fold and drop them in a bowl. To pick the next host or the order of turns without paper, draw on screen instead: each draw takes a chit nobody has drawn yet, until you press Start again.

How it works

From a list to a bowl of chits

  1. Step 1: Pick a set or type a list

Start from lucky chits, tasks, Who am I names, questions or the host draw, then edit any line. One chit per line.

  2. Step 2: Choose the page

8 chits to a page for long tasks, 12 for most sets, 24 for names. Tick Fold in half for a cover side that hides the words.

  3. Step 3: Print and cut

Download the PDF and print at 100%. Cut on the dashed lines; spare places on the last page are blank, to write on by hand.

  4. Step 4: Or draw on screen

Press Draw a chit and one comes up in large type that a room can read. No chit comes up twice until you press Start again.

The ready sets

5 sets, written for kitty parties

Every chit in the tool, to read before you print. Pick one above and edit any line, or mix two sets in the box.

How to run each one as a game is in kitty party chit games, and picking next month's host without an argument in how to pick the next kitty host fairly.

At the party

Four things worth knowing

  • Draw the next host on screen

Type the members' names and press Draw a chit with everyone watching. Nobody wonders whether a chit was folded differently, and the order of the remaining draws is just as random.

  • Use 24 to a page for names

Names are short, and small chits fold small. Tasks and questions read better at 8 or 12 to a page, where the words can stay large.

  • Mix two lucky chits in every ten

A bowl that is all forfeits feels like a punishment. Keep a couple of plain 'better luck next time' chits and a couple of small wins among the tasks.

  • Print on thicker paper if you have it

Folded 80 gsm paper can show the words through it under a bright light. The fold-in-half layout helps, and slightly heavier paper hides them completely.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Anything we've missed?

What are kitty party chits?

Small folded slips of paper, each with a name, a task, a prize or a question, drawn from a bowl. Kitties use them to pick the next host, to decide the order of turns, and for chit games such as lucky chits and Who am I.

How do I print chits with cut lines?

Choose a set or type your list, pick 8, 12 or 24 chits to a page and download the PDF. Every chit has a dashed border to cut along. Print at 100% or Actual size so the margins stay safe.

What does the fold-in-half layout do?

Each chit gets a cover half with its label and a dotted line across the middle. Fold on the line with the words inside, and the chit shows only its label until someone opens it.

Can I pick the next kitty host on screen?

Yes. Type the members' names, one per line, and press Draw a chit. Each draw picks at random from the names not yet drawn, so the same name cannot come up twice until you press Start again. Shuffle into an order gives every turn at once.

Can I write chits in Hindi?

Yes. Type them in Hindi or any language on screen. The PDF prints them too: when a list has characters the built-in PDF fonts cannot show, the pages are made as images instead, slightly softer when printed.

Is my list saved or sent anywhere?

Nothing is sent anywhere. The list and the draw are kept on this device only, so a draw survives a refresh, and the PDF is made in your browser.
