Audio tools that never upload your audio
Recording, trimming and exporting all happen inside the tab. The file is written on your own machine, and no part of it is sent anywhere.

Voice Recorder
Record, trim, download. Nothing uploaded.
Record from your microphone, trim the dead air off the ends, and download an MP3 or WAV. Captured, edited and encoded on your own device — there is no server to send it to.

Teleprompter
Read your script while you record.
Paste a script, turn on the camera and record while the text scrolls next to the lens — at a steady pace, or following your voice. The script and the take stay on your device.

The questions that come up once the recording exists.
Video
How many words for a 60-second video script, and how to write one that reads well
At 140 to 160 words a minute, a 60-second video is about 140 to 160 words. Word counts for 15 to 180 seconds, and how to write a script that sounds spoken.

MP3, WAV, M4A or OPUS: which audio format to pick, and when
A plain comparison of the formats you actually meet — what each is for, how big it gets, where it plays, and the one rule that avoids most mistakes.

How to read from a teleprompter without looking like you are reading
Moving eyes, a flat voice and a chased pace give a script away. How to place the text, write for the ear, set words per minute and record a natural take.

How the audio tools work
Record, trim and download
The voice recorder records from your microphone, trims the dead air off the start and end, and downloads an MP3 or a WAV. The recording is captured, edited and encoded inside your browser tab. There is no upload step and no account, and the file goes straight to your downloads.
If you are reading from a script, both tools have a script panel. In the teleprompter the text scrolls over a camera preview next to the lens while you record video. In the voice recorder the same panel sits above the timer for audio only.
Steady speed or following your voice
The script can scroll at a steady pace you set in words per minute, or follow your voice and wait when you pause. Following your voice uses your browser's own speech recognition. Some browsers send speech to their maker's service to recognise it, so the page asks first and tells you which applies. Steady speed never listens.
Before you record
Thirty seconds with the mic test tells you whether you sound clear, quiet, noisy or distorted before you start a long take. The guides below cover the questions that come up once the recording exists: file formats, voiceovers on a laptop microphone, and timing a script.
Before you open one
Is my recording uploaded?
No. The voice recorder and the teleprompter record inside your browser tab and write the file straight to your downloads. There is no server that could receive it.
Can I get an MP3?
Yes. The voice recorder exports MP3 or WAV. The teleprompter records video, as MP4 in Chrome and Safari and as WebM in Firefox.
Do I need an account or an app?
No. Both tools run in the browser, free, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
Can I read a script while I record?
Yes. The teleprompter shows the script over the camera preview while you record video, and the voice recorder has the same script panel for audio only.
