Today's horoscope by Moon sign — calculated from where the Moon is right now

Pick your Moon sign. The page works out where the Moon is at this moment for your location, counts the house it falls in from your sign, and reads that placement the way the classical texts do — with today's tithi and nakshatra beside it.

The short answer

Today's horoscope in the Vedic tradition is read from the transiting Moon: the sign the Moon is in today, counted as a house from your own Moon sign (rashi). The Moon changes sign every two and a quarter days, so this is what makes today different from yesterday. Houses 1, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 11 from your sign are counted favourable, 4, 8 and 12 call for care, and 2, 5 and 9 are middling — the chandra bala table every panchang prints. This page computes the Moon's position now, for your place, and shows that reading for each of the twelve signs with today's tithi and nakshatra.

How to

Four steps to today's reading

  1. Step 1: Find your Moon sign

Your rashi is the sign the Moon was in when you were born. If you know only your Western Sun sign, start there; the kundli tool gives the exact rashi.

  2. Step 2: Allow your location, or pick a city

The Moon's sign is the same everywhere at one instant, but the day's tithi and nakshatra at your sunrise depend on where you are.

  3. Step 3: Open your sign

Each sign's page shows the house the Moon is in from that sign, its reading, and how long the placement lasts.

  4. Step 4: Come back in two days

The Moon moves on; the reading changes when it crosses into the next sign, and the time of that change is shown.

Getting it right

Worth knowing before you read it

  • Moon sign, not Sun sign

Indian horoscopes are read from the Moon sign. If a Western site calls you a Leo and an Indian one Karka, both may be right — different zodiac, different luminary. The kundli tool shows all of them.

  • The day starts at sunrise

In the panchang a day runs from one sunrise to the next, so the tithi named for a day is the one running at sunrise, even if it ends by lunch. The page shows when today's tithi ends.

  • The 8th house Moon

The one placement every text agrees on: the Moon in the eighth from your rashi is the day to postpone journeys, signatures and new beginnings. It lasts about two days and comes round once a month.

  • Tara bala needs your nakshatra

A fuller daily reading counts today's nakshatra from your birth nakshatra — tara bala — which needs your birth details. The kundli tool gives the birth nakshatra; the app reads both together.

Computed, not looked up — in your browser

Positions come from published astronomy (Meeus and the JPL orbital elements), the ayanamsa is Lahiri, the houses whole-sign, and the same code runs in the Jyotish app. Your birth details and location are used by your own browser and never sent, and no language model reads or writes your chart. Switch the page to another language and only its fixed text goes to our translation service; your result stays in English, in your browser.

  • No account, no email
  • The same engine as the Jyotish app, tested against it
  • Describes placements; never promises an outcome
  • Method and settings printed under every result

FAQ

Questions people ask

Anything we've missed?

What are the upay (remedies) shown, and do they cost anything?

Under every result, 'What to do' checks the grahas that matter most in it — exalted or debilitated, own sign, combust, the house it sits in — and gives the classical practice only for a graha that is weak or afflicted: a mantra, its weekday, a fast or a charity, with the Lal Kitab everyday version, word for word from the Jyotish app's graha guide. A strong graha is named as strong and left alone, because the tradition gives no remedy for it. All practices are free and done at home. Nothing is sold, no gemstone or puja is recommended, and none of it is medical, financial or legal advice.

Which sign should I read, Sun or Moon?

For this page, your Moon sign. Vedic daily readings are anchored on the Moon because it is the only body that changes sign within a day or two; the Sun stays in one sign for a month, so a Sun-sign reading cannot honestly change day to day. If you know only your Sun sign, read that and check your Moon sign with the kundli tool.

Is this horoscope by Sun sign or Moon sign?

By Moon sign (rashi), the Vedic way. Where the Moon is today, counted from your own Moon sign, is what changes from one day to the next and what the classical texts call chandra bala. If you know only your Western Sun sign, that is a reasonable start — the two agree for most people born in the second half of a sign's dates — and the kundli tool gives your Moon sign in a minute.

Why does the reading change every two or three days rather than daily?

Because the Moon takes about two and a quarter days to cross a sign. The tithi and nakshatra shown with it change daily, so the day's details do move, but the main placement holds for two or three days at a time. A horoscope that is completely different every morning is not being read from the sky.

Is this written by an AI?

No. The Moon's position is computed for your location and time, and the reading for each of its twelve placements is a fixed text following the classical muhurta table — houses 1, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 11 favourable, 4, 8 and 12 to be careful in, 2, 5 and 9 middling. The same placement always gives the same words.

Does it predict what will happen?

No. It describes the day's placement the way the tradition describes it — what the day tends to feel like, what it suits — and never promises an outcome. Health, money and legal questions are not something a Moon transit can answer, and the page does not pretend otherwise.
