      The short answer

To split Tambola prize money, multiply the ticket price by the tickets sold, take out the host's share, and divide the rest between the dividends. A common split is 10% for early five, 15% for each of the three lines and 45% for full house: 40 tickets at ₹50 make ₹2,000, which is ₹200 for early five, ₹300 for each line and ₹900 for full house. Round the smaller prizes down and give what is left to full house, so the total is exact.

      How to

Four steps to a fair split

      1. Step 1: Enter the collection

Type the ticket price and the tickets sold, or the number of players and tickets each.

      2. Step 2: Take out the host's share

If the host keeps money for snacks or the hall, enter it as a percentage or a fixed amount. Leave it at zero if every rupee goes in prizes.

      3. Step 3: Pick the dividends

The standard five are ticked. Add four corners, second full house, breakfast, lunch and dinner or your own, and choose the split.

      4. Step 4: Round and share

Choose ₹1, ₹5, ₹10 or ₹50. Smaller prizes round down and full house takes what is left. Copy the list for WhatsApp, or print it.

      Before the first call

      Four things worth agreeing

      • Read the split out before the first call

Everyone has paid in, so everyone should hear what each dividend pays before a number is drawn. Paste the list into the group chat or pin the printout where the caller sits.

      • Keep the three lines equal

No line is harder to win than another. With full house in play, the suggested split gives top, middle and bottom line the same amount, and so should any split you type yourself.

      • Round to ₹10 for cash games

Prizes in tens are easy to hand over from a cash box. The calculator rounds every smaller prize down to the step and gives the few rupees left to full house, so the totals still match.

      • Fewer dividends, bigger prizes

Each extra dividend takes money from the others. Six or seven is plenty for one game; with ten, the early prizes become too small to feel like a win.

      FAQ

      Questions people ask

      Anything we've missed?

How is Tambola prize money usually divided?

The common split is 10% of the pool for early five, 15% for each of the top, middle and bottom lines, and 45% for full house. That is the calculator's suggested split for the standard five. Extras such as four corners get their own share, and every other prize shrinks a little to make room.

What happens to the odd rupees after rounding?

Every prize except one is rounded down to the step you choose, and the rupees left over go to one stated place: the full house by default, or back to the host if you pick that. The prizes plus the host's share always add up to exactly what was collected.

Can the host keep some money for snacks or the hall?

Yes. Enter the host's share as a percentage of the collection or as a fixed amount, with a note of what it is for. It comes off the top before the prizes are worked out, and it appears as its own line in the copied summary.

Can I type my own percentages or amounts?

Yes. Choose My percentages or My amounts. Percentages that do not add up to 100 are scaled to fill the pool, and the calculator says so. With your own amounts, full house takes whatever the others leave.

      Which dividends can I add?

Four corners, second full house, temperature, early seven, bull's eye, breakfast, lunch, dinner, star and pyramid are one tap away, and you can add any prize by name. The Tambola games list explains how each one is won.

Does it work for other currencies?

Yes. Switch the symbol to Rs, $, £, € or AED. The arithmetic is the same; only the symbol and the number grouping change.

      Is anything sent anywhere?

No. The sums are done in your browser, and your last settings are kept only on this device so the page opens where you left it.
