Features

What Plainly does

Mood, plus what you actually live with — stress, anxiety, low mood, focus, mood swings, your cycle. Logged in seconds, shown back in plain words from the first day, and kept on your phone.

  • A check-in in seconds

One tap is complete. Add a word, the symptoms from your topics, what was going on and a note — or none of it.

  • Topics for what you live with

Stress, Anxiety, Low mood, Focus & ADHD, Mood swings, Cycle & hormones. Each adds a few symptoms and its own view. Plainly never assigns you a condition.

  • A streak that forgives

It counts the days you checked in, never how they went. Spare days and a one-week pause mean a hard week erases nothing.

  • Patterns with their confidence

"You logged stress on 9 of 14 days." Every sentence carries the days behind it, labelled too early to say, some sign or clear sign — and nothing is said until there is enough to say.

Our promise

It lives on your phone

A mood record is health data. Plainly keeps it on your device, works with no account, and keeps it away from the ad system by construction, not by policy.

Read the privacy policy
  • No account needed, and no sign-in wall
  • Your record is stored on your phone and works offline
  • Sync is opt-in, and your notes stay on the phone unless you turn note sync on
  • Ads are never personalised, and the ad code cannot read your record
  • No analytics and no crash reporting
  • No AI companion, no diagnosis, no generated advice
  • Export everything as CSV, or delete it all, from inside the app
Who it's for

When people reach for Plainly

  • Someone whose tracker made bad weeks worse

A lost streak or a sad-face chart was one more thing to feel bad about. Here the low-day screen and the good-day screen are the same.

  • Someone living with a specific thing

You do not need forty symptoms. You need the four that matter to you, asked quickly, every time.

  • Someone with an appointment coming

You want to show what the last six weeks were actually like, not what you can remember in the waiting room.

  • Someone who will not hand over health data

You want the record on your own phone, with a backup file you keep.

Getting started

Useful within a minute

  1. Step 1: Choose up to two topics

Pick what you live with. Each topic adds a few symptoms to your check-in. You can change topics later without losing anything.

  2. Step 2: Make your first check-in

Tap how you are right now. That alone is a complete check-in; the word, symptoms, triggers and note are optional.

  3. Step 3: Look at Today tomorrow

The morning screen shows yesterday's day word, your run and the week so far. Patterns appear in Insights once there are enough days to say something.

And it also does

  • Rough patches: a headache, a panic or a crash, with when it started and ended
  • Reminders at your times, with wording that never mentions your health
  • A monthly review card you can keep or share
  • Month calendar and Year in Pixels
  • App lock with Face ID or fingerprint
  • Backup to a file you keep

Questions

Can't find the answer you're looking for?

What is the day word?

A single plain word for a day — Good, Steady, Mixed, Uneven or Low — worked out by a published rule over the check-ins you made that day. It describes what you logged. It is not a measurement of your health, and the app shows the rule whenever you ask.

What happens to my streak if I miss days?

The streak counts days you checked in, whatever you logged. You earn a spare day for every seven days you check in, you can pause for a week, and a milestone once reached stays reached.

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works without one. Signing in with Google only adds sync between phones, and your notes are left out of sync unless you turn that on.

Why are there ads in the free version?

To keep the free version complete. They are non-personalised, they never appear on Today, during a check-in, on the Timeline or on the Insights home, and nothing you log is ever sent to the ad network.

Does Plainly diagnose anything?

No. Topics are named for what people live with, and no screen ever assigns you a condition. For medical questions, see a healthcare professional.

When is it out?

Soon. Join the launch list and we'll email you when it's ready.

Plainly is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. For medical advice, consult a healthcare professional.
