Rukawatein kab khatam hongi? Obstacles, enemies and bad phases in Jyotish

See the full kundli

The three houses the texts call dusthana — the 6th, 8th and 12th — hold obstacles, rivals and losses, and Saturn's Sade Sati is the phase most people mean by a bad time. How they are read, when they end, and what to do meanwhile.

Tell the chat above your birth date, time and place, and your question is read from the houses, grahas and dasha the tradition uses for it — free, computed in your browser, and never sent anywhere.

How Jyotish reads it

Which houses, which grahas

  1. The 6th bhava is rivals, disputes and obstacles; the 8th sudden setbacks and what is hidden; the 12th losses. A strong 6th lord defeats rivals; a weak one is read as troubled by them.

  2. A bad phase is almost always a dasha of a graha ruling or sitting in a dusthana, or Saturn's Sade Sati — seven and a half years of Saturn over the 12th, 1st and 2nd from the Moon, in three parts that are not equally hard.

  3. Enemies are the 6th and its lord; hidden ones the 8th and Rahu. The tradition reads whether rivals prevail from the 6th lord's strength against the lagna lord's, not from names.

  4. Every such period has a start and an end in the dasha table, and the upay of its lord for the meantime.

The answers

What the chart can say

Every question here is one of a few kinds. The tradition has a way of reading each kind; this is it, in the words the app uses.

When will it happen?

When a bad phase ends is read from the dasha table — the end of the period whose lord rules the trouble — and from Saturn's transit leaving the sign. The kundli tool prints the dates.

Will it happen?

A yes-or-no question is read as a matter of strength, not fate: how strong the bhava is, where its lord sits, which grahas aspect it, and whether the navamsa agrees. The texts describe what a strong or afflicted house tends to give; they do not decree. Victory over rivals is read from the 6th lord against the lagna lord, and from Mars and the Sun's strength.

Why is it not happening?

Obstacles everywhere are read from the running dasha's lord in a dusthana or from Sade Sati, and the reading says which and until when. It does not name a person.

What upay should I do?

The remedy is the upay of the graha whose period it is — most often Saturn's or Rahu's — kept through the period. Free practices, listed under every kundli result.

Want to ask back, the way you would an astrologer?

What to do

The upay the tradition gives

A remedy is aimed at a graha, and only at a weak or afflicted one — a strong graha needs none. These are the grahas most often behind this topic, with the free practices the Jyotish app lists; the kundli tool checks whether yours are weak before it suggests any.
