The most asked question in any consultation, in every language. Here is how the tradition reads it — the 7th house, its lord, Venus and Jupiter, the navamsa, and the dasha — and the real questions people bring, in English and Hinglish.

Tell the chat above your birth date, time and place, and your question is read from the houses, grahas and dasha the tradition uses for it — free, computed in your browser, and never sent anywhere.

How Jyotish reads it

Which houses, which grahas

  1. Marriage lives in the 7th bhava (kalatra) and its lord, with Venus as the karaka for everyone and Jupiter as the karaka of the husband in a woman's chart. The 2nd (family) and 11th (gains, fulfilment of wishes) are read alongside.

  2. The navamsa (D9) is decisive: the rashi chart shows what is promised, the D9 shows whether the promise holds. A strong 7th in both is the classical sign of a settled marriage.

  3. Timing comes from the dasha of the 7th lord, of Venus or Jupiter, or of a graha sitting in the 7th, combined with Jupiter's transit over the 7th, the 2nd or the 11th, or over the natal Moon.

  4. Love or arranged is read from the 5th (romance) against the 7th, and from Venus and Rahu's involvement with them.

The answers

What the chart can say

Every question here is one of a few kinds. The tradition has a way of reading each kind; this is it, in the words the app uses.

When will it happen?

Timing in Jyotish comes from three clocks read together: the Vimshottari dasha (which graha's period is running and which sub-period), the transits of Jupiter and Saturn over the bhava concerned, and the year's activation of that bhava. A period is named when all three point the same way; the tradition names a window, never a date. For marriage, the dasha of the 7th lord, Venus or Jupiter with Jupiter transiting the 7th, 2nd or 11th is the classical window.

Will it happen?

A yes-or-no question is read as a matter of strength, not fate: how strong the bhava is, where its lord sits, which grahas aspect it, and whether the navamsa agrees. The texts describe what a strong or afflicted house tends to give; they do not decree. For marriage, a 7th house and lord free of Saturn's or Mars's heavy affliction, and a navamsa that agrees, is what the texts call a promised marriage.

Why is it not happening?

Delay is read from Saturn's hand on the 7th house or its lord, a weak or combust Venus, Mangal dosha without cancellation, or a dasha running that has no link to the 7th. The tradition names the cause and its period; it does not blame the person.

What does my chart say?

A marriage reading starts from the 7th house, its lord and Venus in the rashi chart, checks the navamsa, and then reads the dasha to say when. The kundli tool shows all of those; the app reads them together.

What to do

The upay the tradition gives

A remedy is aimed at a graha, and only at a weak or afflicted one — a strong graha needs none. These are the grahas most often behind this topic, with the free practices the Jyotish app lists; the kundli tool checks whether yours are weak before it suggests any.
