Love marriage or arranged, will this relationship last, what kind of person will my partner be — the questions the 5th and 7th houses answer between them, and how Venus, Mars and Rahu colour the answer.

Tell the chat above your birth date, time and place, and your question is read from the houses, grahas and dasha the tradition uses for it — free, computed in your browser, and never sent anywhere.

How Jyotish reads it

Which houses, which grahas

  1. Romance is the 5th bhava; marriage is the 7th. A link between the two — their lords exchanging, aspecting or sitting together — is the classical sign of a love marriage. No link, and the tradition reads an arranged one.

  2. The partner's nature is read from the 7th house's rashi, the grahas in it and the 7th lord: Jupiter there reads as a wise, generous partner; Saturn as an older or serious one; Mars as an energetic one; Rahu as someone from a different background.

  3. Whether a relationship holds is read from Venus's strength, the 7th lord's condition and the navamsa's 7th. Breaks are read from Saturn, Mars, Rahu or Ketu on the 5th or 7th, and from their dashas.

The answers

What the chart can say

Every question here is one of a few kinds. The tradition has a way of reading each kind; this is it, in the words the app uses.

When will it happen?

Timing in Jyotish comes from three clocks read together: the Vimshottari dasha (which graha's period is running and which sub-period), the transits of Jupiter and Saturn over the bhava concerned, and the year's activation of that bhava. A period is named when all three point the same way; the tradition names a window, never a date. For love, the dasha of the 5th or 7th lord or of Venus, with Jupiter transiting the 5th or 7th, is the window the texts name.

Will it happen?

A yes-or-no question is read as a matter of strength, not fate: how strong the bhava is, where its lord sits, which grahas aspect it, and whether the navamsa agrees. The texts describe what a strong or afflicted house tends to give; they do not decree. A love marriage is read as likely when the 5th and 7th are linked and Venus is strong; a relationship's survival, from the 7th in the navamsa.

Why is it not happening?

Repeated breaks are read from Rahu or Ketu on the 5th or 7th, Mars afflicting Venus, or Saturn holding the 7th — each with a dasha in which it shows. The reading names the pattern, not the person's worth.

How will it go?

What the partner will be like is described from the 7th house and its lord, in the register the texts use — traits and tendencies, not a portrait.

What to do

The upay the tradition gives

A remedy is aimed at a graha, and only at a weak or afflicted one — a strong graha needs none. These are the grahas most often behind this topic, with the free practices the Jyotish app lists; the kundli tool checks whether yours are weak before it suggests any.
