Children are the 5th house and Jupiter; the mother the 4th and the Moon; the father the 9th and the Sun; siblings the 3rd and Mars. How each is read from your own chart, and the questions people bring.

Tell the chat above your birth date, time and place, and your question is read from the houses, grahas and dasha the tradition uses for it — free, computed in your browser, and never sent anywhere.

How Jyotish reads it

Which houses, which grahas

  1. Children: the 5th bhava (putra), its lord and Jupiter as karaka, checked in the saptamsa (D7). A child comes in the dasha of the 5th lord or Jupiter with Jupiter transiting the 5th, the 9th or the lagna.

  2. The mother is the 4th house and the Moon; the father the 9th house and the Sun; siblings the 3rd and Mars; the 11th is elder siblings. A relative's fortune is read from that house in your chart, as the tradition allows, with the relative's own chart preferred.

  3. Conflict at home is read from Mars, Saturn, Rahu or Ketu on the 2nd (the family) or the 4th, and from the Moon's affliction.

The answers

What the chart can say

Every question here is one of a few kinds. The tradition has a way of reading each kind; this is it, in the words the app uses.

When will it happen?

Timing in Jyotish comes from three clocks read together: the Vimshottari dasha (which graha's period is running and which sub-period), the transits of Jupiter and Saturn over the bhava concerned, and the year's activation of that bhava. A period is named when all three point the same way; the tradition names a window, never a date. For a child, the dasha of the 5th lord or Jupiter with Jupiter transiting the 5th, 9th or lagna is the window.

Will it happen?

A yes-or-no question is read as a matter of strength, not fate: how strong the bhava is, where its lord sits, which grahas aspect it, and whether the navamsa agrees. The texts describe what a strong or afflicted house tends to give; they do not decree. Santan yoga is read from a strong 5th and its lord, Jupiter's condition, and the D7 agreeing. Medical questions about conception are not astrology's to answer, and the app declines them.

Why is it not happening?

Discord at home is read from the 2nd and 4th houses and the Moon; a strained tie with a parent from the 4th or 9th and its karaka. The reading names the placement, not the guilty party.

How will it go?

A relative's future is read from the house that stands for them in your chart, in the texts' descriptive terms, and always with their own chart as the better instrument.

Want to ask back, the way you would an astrologer?

The Jyotish app answers in your words — Hindi, Hinglish or English — from the chart on your phone, asks a question back when it needs to, and shows the placement and the rule under every sentence. Health, money and legal questions are declined, not guessed.

What to do

The upay the tradition gives

A remedy is aimed at a graha, and only at a weak or afflicted one — a strong graha needs none. These are the grahas most often behind this topic, with the free practices the Jyotish app lists; the kundli tool checks whether yours are weak before it suggests any.
